FOUNDING OF BUSINESSES AND CAREER PATH:

In 2006 while pursuing my doctoral studies, he founded a mental health/behavioral and substance abuse agency and named it Kwenyan Professional Health Services, LLC. At the same time, he was working as a Behavioral Specialist Consultant (BSC) in the Philadelphia and Bucks County areas. In 2008, he became Licensed as a Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania and became a Licensed Clinical Drugs and Alcohol Counselor in the State of New Jersey in 2009. This enabled him to begin his career in private practice. After a year in private practice, his agency was approved by the New Jersey Division of Child Behavioral Health as an Intensive in-home and Community Provider (IIC) in 2009.

He continued his private practice on a part-time basis for two years while launching his agency in the State of New Jersey. Due to the increase in his agency’s work demands, he eventually closed down his private practice in 2011 and went into full-time work to fully establish his agency. In addressing the gap in services, he developed an outpatient mental health and substance abuse clinic in 2010, which is licensed by the State of New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services as a continuum of care for the youths transitioning from the IIC program and for the public who were in need of services within the community.

To further address the gap in services for the indigents, underserved and uninsured, Dr. Cassell established a not-for profit mental health and substance abuse program in Ewing, NJ. which is also licensed by the State of New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

As of July 2020, Dr. Cassell owns and operates two licensed and joint accredited organizations: Kwenyan Professional Health Services, LLC (For-profit Parent Organization) and Kwenyan and Associates (Not-for-Profit Subsidiary Organization) with a total of six Intensive/Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Services Outpatient Clinics at seven locations throughout the state of New Jersey.
